For me, at least, this is my shortest blog entry.
But I hope it lingers with you for a long while.
What are the implications of Mark 7:7 for you, personally?
For your worship ministry?
For your church?
And even for your city?
OK. Ponder the words of Jesus: "Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God." (Mark 7:7)
Praying that we Christians will wake up and realize we need to be where God is working, not where we are comfortable.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good post - and one that has sparked several conversations in our house. Having moved from our home church - and while searching for a new church - we have come across several churches where the man in charge is setting the stage for his own "one man show." This can be so discouraging and exhausting. And then to go one step further and think about One God, One Bible and 50 million denominations all professing to know the heart of the one true God. It especially makes me worried for those who are searching for God and coming across what might be some "man's" thoughts and opinions and directly opposing God.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting and once again starting this discussion in not only our home - but also in my Bible study.
David and Deb, thanks so much for your comments. There's no doubt, Jesus has a heart for His people to worship Him authentically. And we broken, fallen human beings sometimes do more to hinder that that help it. I'm grateful for the thousands upon thousands of pastors and worship pastors and church members who share the heart of Jesus--for all people in all nations to worship God with all they are!
